The Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that collects, stores, and distributes more than 20 million pounds of food and grocery products per year to 380 member agencies in eleven counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. Food pantries, soup kitchens, daycare centers, personal-care homes, homeless and women’s shelters, drug rehabilitation centers, after-school programs, and others serve over 120,000 people per year, of whom 37,000 are children. The Food Bank welcomes volunteers who help in the areas of food repackaging, clerical work, special events, and harvesting activities. Every $1.00 donated provides $5.00 worth of goods and services. Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is a member of Feeding America.
