Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Wines, Steins & Cocktails has been Incorporated since 1987.
What is your primary product or service?
Trainers of Top-Shelf Bartenders Coast to Coast through our State-Licensed and fully Bonded Trade Schools.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Over my life-time, and through extensive travel, I've been exposed to all phases of the Hospitality Industry. In addition, I've owned several businesses and have had the pleasure to train & develop a number of fine ladies and gentleman who have pursued successful careers in the Cruise and Casino Trades. Formally, I have a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), advanced training and certifications in wine, both American & International styles. I am a graduate of 3 different Professional Bartender Schools: The American Bartender School, The International Bartender School and The Boston Bartender School of America. I am currently the director of the American Bartender Federation's, " Entrepreneurial Express," established for the purpose of coaching and counselling new and existing owners of bars, restaurants, and nightclubs on successful hiring procedures, creativity, sales and marketing practices. I've been a TIPS trainer (Training Intervention Procedures for Servers of Alcoholic Beverages) for 25 years in an my effort to promote and support, consistent and responsible service of all forms of spirits, now over 10,000 graduates trained to date. Some of my publications include: "Ace the Interview - Win the Job!" "Everything You Need to Know to Get a Great Paying Job in the Cruise Industry, " Casino Employment A to Z," and "How to Run A Profitable Bar or Nightclub Operation." All of these informative guides are included in our Professional Bartender Programs along with my DVD production, a live presentation on the preparation of America's Classic Cocktails, entitled, "The Master's Guide to Professional Bartending," and its complement, "The Happy Hour Drink Index" and "The Shot Master's Drink Guides."
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our programs are all taught by professionals who have owned businesses, have done the hiring and the firing and have been exposed to a wide varity of business issues. The result: our students are not merely taught how to mix drinks, but rather, they understand how and why we do the thing we do when working in different environments, be it a hotel, restaurant, private club, in a casino, or aboard a cruiseship. They get a real feel for the responsibilities that are involved with day to day operations of the business for which they are seeking to become an employee. Consequently, we at Wines, Steins & Cocktails believe that our graduates truly are more employable because they bring a lot more to the bargaining table -- a think on your feet mentality that contributes what most employers desire today, namely, let's hit the ground running mind-set that is reflected immediately through superior service and bottom-line results. And oh by the way, we not only charge less than all of our bonafide competitors, but permit our students to acquire a life-time money making skill on an easy pay as you go plan -- a win -win situation for everybody!
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?

The bartending school is only one element of our business-model.
